This is a community site devoted to networking. More specifically, it is a community for people who believe that effective networking doesn't mean being sleazy or pushy!

Non-Toxic Networking was published in March of 2008, and was inspired by the business owners that helped the author realize that she was not the only one that could use emotional bonds and meaningful connections to sign more clients, and make more friends.

Referrals come to those that give. Non-Toxic Networking teaches you to give, without giving too much. Boundaries, icebreakers, and advice are all given with a dash of humor and a pound of common sense.

If you're scared to network, if you don't like "selling" or if you have a hundred other reasons why you can't talk to people....let Non-Toxic Networking show you how to do it in a way that won't make you feel like you've sold your soul and gone to the dark side.

We take your fear of becoming a used car salesman, and help you become a master of conversation and follow-up.

Drowning? Yes, but in a good way!

Now that we've got the digital download all ready and selling well...the next task was to get together and order the proof copy of the paperback version of Non-Toxic Networking. I took care of that last week and received the proof in the mail on Saturday. Let me tell you something - if you have been considering publishing a book but haven't gotten around to it yet, holding a physical book in your hands is one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had. Smelling that book, knowing you did t… Continue

Launches aren't as easy as they look!

The marketing plan in place, the seminar all scheduled... It mostly went off without a hitch. Except for the quality of the seminar audio. For some reason, the online seminar room wasn't buffering correctly...or something. I don't know if the recording sounds better, I hope it does. If it does not sound any better, the only plausable option is to re-record it myself and then use Camtasia to record the presentation. Then it can go on YouTube, and once it is hosted on YouTube I can display it… Continue

Easter Networking

Do you ever wonder if you're supposed to be networking on holidays or just taking the day off? It depends. Easter dinner can be a great time to remind your family what you're looking for. A better job, more clients, etc. Many people think family can't help them unless they directly "know someone" but that's not always the case! If you tell your mom the kind of job she's looking for, and your mom talks to the woman behind the deli at the supermarket, and the deli worker's husband knows someone… Continue

SitterCity and my Possible Salvation

I keep talking about how nuts the toddlers are making me, and getting out once a week with my friend D just isn’t enough for me to keep it together. That was before more and more writing assignments started piling on my to-do list (no, I’m not complaining, just putting it into perspective). I was [...]

I am in Love with Jerry Bruckheimer’s Classic Style

Look at this fantastic partial list of amazing movies and television shows! (full list can be found at IMDB.com) Sure there are some that were dogs, but classics like Con Air will forever stay in my heart… Prince of Persia: Sands of Time (2009) (pre-production) (producer) Confessions of a Shopaholic (2009) (filming) (producer) G-Force (2009) (post-production) (producer) [...]

I Thought I Was Getting A Break

Ok. I was going to have someone over tomorrow. Actual company - the kind you make coffee for and chat with - no pressure fun kind of stuff. But it’s not going to happen (I hope I manage to email her before she reads this LOL) because I’m dashing this off before leaving for my [...]
