Non-Toxic Networking

Networking doesn't have to be painful...

Sneak Peek Download

As my first Non-Toxic Networking gesture to you, I'd like to offer you a "no strings attached" excerpt of the book so you can check it out.

Non-Toxic Networking
Sneak Peek Edition

This is a community site devoted to networking. More specifically, it is a community for people who believe that effective networking doesn't mean being sleazy or pushy!

Non-Toxic Networking was published in March of 2008, and was inspired by the business owners that helped the author realize that she was not the only one that could use emotional bonds and meaningful connections to sign more clients, and make more friends.

Referrals come to those that give. Non-Toxic Networking teaches you to give, without giving too much. Boundaries, icebreakers, and advice are all given with a dash of humor and a pound of common sense.

If you're scared to network, if you don't like "selling" or if you have a hundred other reasons why you can't talk to people....let Non-Toxic Networking show you how to do it in a way that won't make you feel like you've sold your soul and gone to the dark side.

We take your fear of becoming a used car salesman, and help you become a master of conversation and follow-up.

Thank Goodness It's Done!

It only took a year, but the paperback is finally available. There are some revisions that have been made with the thousand and one re-edits that the book has gone through.

I'm excited that the paperback is finally done, and will be up on Amazon and Barnes & Noble within eight weeks. My fingers are crossed and my marketing mind is whirring.

I so want to know what the best route to publicize the book is now that it is done. I have so many plans and want to do them all in the right order.

Networking Blog is Live!

I'm taking a minute from explaining how the book has been delayed because the person I hired to format it did it incorrectly so the proof looked unprofessional and i have to have it redone.

Well it is redone, I just have to add the index. I plan on doing it myself, because really I have the worst luck! If I ask you to work for me, just say no. You will either have some horrible family emergency, or you will get sick, or you will not know how to do what I ask.

Because, and I'm not kidding, it h… Continue

If Only Babies Had A Button

My beautiful daughter is now just a nudge older than six weeks. (If you count that I would have been induced at 38 weeks if I was with an OB she would be ten weeks and five days old…I’ll stop counting that eventually…) When she wants something, she cries. I know, baby 101, right? Makes sense. [...]

Christmas Before Thanksgiving? I Get it Now!

With another week until Thanksgiving I saw an ad for Walmart. I don’t know what it was selling. All I remember was kids, dressed in pajamas, running into a living room with a lit tree and jumping on the couch with mom and dad to read a story. That’s when I started to cry, which is [...]

Job Opportunities for Employees 55+

If you are 55 years and older there are job opportunities for you. I received a question on a webinar today asking potential opportunities for job seekers 55 years and older. My response: First, just because you are 55 old and older does not mean you can’t find a job. The greatest obstacle you may find is you. If you believe you can’t find a position, you won’t. The best way to get a job if you are in this age category is networking. With your years of experience, you will know lots of people. I challenge you to tap into [...]

The Best of the Best Invest

Do you know that the best of the best invest when no one else is looking. I remember many years ago when Michael Jordan was in his “hay day”, playing and winning when he was sick. He actually had the flu during the NBA Finals. The game was in Salt Lake City, Utah. Karl Malone and John Stockton were playing. I can’t remember now, but I believe it was game 3 or 4 of that series. I was there at the Delta Center. I marveled at his ability to press through the nausea, the fever, the dehydration and everything else [...]

Focus on Communication – Reap the Benefits

You know Labor Day is one of those relaxing holidays for me personally. For those who work hard year round, I think it is a good idea to take the day off and rest. But Tuesday is always coming. Yesterday was Labor Day, but today we need to get back to work. Labor Day is a great day to assess the previous year of labor, your work and what you accomplished over the last year. Today, Tuesday is a great day to implement new work habits, new goals, a new perspective on the work you do. Here are a few suggestions on [...]

Begin With The End In Mind

Do you know where you’re headed? Do you have a destination in mind when it comes to your job search? The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People was such a novel idea when Stephen Covey wrote and published his book years ago. The second habit he discusses, Habit 2 is Begin With the End in Mind. As I ponder that habit today, I thought about job seekers who are struggling to find employment. It is a challenge to find a job today, but not impossible. I know that one of the major issues I find with job seekers is what [...]
